Complete vs TrainingPeaks

Which is better, TrainingPeaks or Complete?

TrainingPeaks is a training log and analysis platform whose plans come from coaches and its plan store, sold on top of Premium. Complete is the fitness superapp: every sport counts, and you compete with your friends in all of them. It starts from your long-term goals: every workout you do counts toward them, you get a recommendation for each day, and Complete writes a plan when you have a race. Pick TrainingPeaks if you work with a human coach or train on the web or Android; pick Complete if you think about your body over years, not one training block.

At a glance

Facts about TrainingPeaks were checked on the date next to each source. Complete is our own app. We wouldn’t build it if we didn’t think it was the best, we train with it ourselves, and we work every day to make it better.

Where TrainingPeaks is stronger

Two things. First, human coaches: TrainingPeaks is built around the relationship between an athlete and a coach, who builds plans on it and adds workouts to your calendar. Complete’s Coach knows your training and recovery and is there with or without a plan, but it is not a person. Second, where it runs: TrainingPeaks works on the web, iOS and Android, and Complete is iPhone only.

Both track fitness and fatigue over time: TrainingPeaks with the Performance Management Chart in Premium, Complete with its Training Load screen. Garmin announced on 22 July 2026 that it had acquired TrainingPeaks.

Where Complete is different

It starts from your goals, not a plan. When you join, you pick what you want to work toward for years: build muscle, lose fat, improve cardio, get stronger, general health, or become an athlete. A body is built over years, not in a 12-week block you finish and then start again.

So every workout you do counts, and you get a recommendation for each day and a Coach to ask. When you have a race, Complete writes the plan itself, so you don’t need a coach or a plan purchase, and the Coach proposes changes that you approve.

One season plan holds several races, and for each one you choose to peak, freshen up or train through. The week is built around the other sports you play, and on a red recovery day today’s session turns into rest or an easy one while the week’s plan stays.

It tests you like an athlete: a ramp test on a treadmill or a 12-minute Cooper run in the app, and in Berlin an in-person running test with PhysioEffekt.

And it’s social. You get a rating in each category (cardio, strength, sport, recovery and consistency) plus an overall one, and leaderboards among the people you follow, in your city and country, worldwide and in your clubs.

Frequently asked questions

Is Complete a TrainingPeaks alternative?

Yes, unless you work with a human coach or train on the web or Android. Complete starts from your long-term goals: it gives you a recommendation for each day, writes a plan when you have a race, tracks your training load, and ranks you against friends in every sport you log.

Does Complete track fitness and fatigue like the Performance Management Chart?

Its Training Load screen does a similar job. It compares your last week of training with your six-week base and shows a status from Decreasing to Excessive.

Can I train for more than one race a year?

Yes. One season plan holds several races, and for each one you choose to peak, freshen up or train through.

Do I need a training plan to use Complete?

No. You set your goals, and every workout that reaches Apple Health counts. Without a plan you get a recommendation for each day and a Coach to ask; when you have a race, Complete writes one.

Does Complete work with Garmin?

Through Apple Health. Garmin data that reaches Apple Health reaches Complete; there is no direct Garmin connection.

Is Complete on Android?

No. Complete is an iPhone app.
