Complete vs ENDUR (Hyrox app)

Which is better, ENDUR or Complete?

ENDUR is a Hyrox training app from Endur GmbH, with programs its site says were designed by HYROX World Champion Alexander Roncevic. Complete is the fitness superapp: every sport counts, and you compete with your friends in all of them. It starts from your long-term goals and counts every workout toward them, and when you have a Hyrox race it writes a plan that trains the stations as well as the runs. Pick ENDUR if coach-led programs from a named champion are what you want; pick Complete if Hyrox is one of several things you train for.

How Complete works for Hyrox

Complete starts from the goals you pick when you join, with or without a race date. Each morning it reads your goals, your recovery and your recent load (how hard your recent sessions were on your body), and recommends what to do that day. Every workout that reaches Apple Health counts, so the runs, lifts and padel sessions around your Hyrox training all feed the same recommendation.

When you do have a race, Complete writes a Hyrox plan that trains the stations as well as the runs, with brick sessions, where a station and a run come back to back as in the race. We think brick sessions are the best way to train for Hyrox, so we build them into Complete’s Hyrox plans. Hyrox sessions are in its library for you to run when you choose.

You can also train without a plan. Train offers a session on any day, and the Coach can suggest an easier day when your recovery is low. You decide.

A Hyrox session from Complete, written out

This Hyrox session comes from Complete’s training library and is written out here so you can judge the work yourself. It rehearses the run, station, run transition under fatigue, so that running on tired legs after a station stops feeling foreign. “Race weight” means the weight you would use on race day. Effort is out of 10, where 10 is all you have.

BlockWhat you do
Warm-upRun 800 m at effort 4 out of 10: an easy build, finishing with 3 strides. Then single-leg Romanian deadlifts, 2 sets of 6 per side with a light weight, to prime the back of your legs and your hips.
Main: for time, in this orderRun 1000 m at effort 7 out of 10 while you are fresh, and hold your target race pace: this is your pace reference for the rest. Sled push 50 m at effort 8 out of 10 with race weight: even splits, and do not sprint the first length. Run 1000 m at effort 8 out of 10, and hold the same pace as the first run. It will feel a notch harder, and that gap is the point. Sandbag lunge 100 m with race weight: full-depth steps, with your knee touching the floor on every rep. Run 1000 m at effort 8 out of 10, your last run on tired legs, and practise settling your pace within the first 100 m.
Cool-downRun 600 m at effort 3 out of 10. Easy flush.
If you are new to thisCut each run to 600 m and use a lighter sled. Aim for a clean transition; the time can wait.
