BLOOD TESTS
A fitness app that uses your blood test results
A fitness app that uses your blood test results should show you the numbers and say what it does with them. Bevel says it stores your labs, clinical notes and medical records in one secure place. Complete is the fitness superapp: every sport counts, and you compete with your friends in all of them. If you add a blood panel that has the measures PhenoAge needs, Complete adds a PhenoAge to your Complete Age, and none of it is medical advice.
What a fitness app can do with blood results
A blood panel is a set of measurements from one blood sample. Each measurement in it is a marker, such as glucose. A fitness app is not a clinician, so it cannot diagnose anything from your markers. It can keep your results in one place, next to your training, and say how it uses them.
Ask your doctor what your own results mean. Nothing on this page is medical advice.
What PhenoAge is
PhenoAge, short for phenotypic age, is a published estimate of how old your body acts. The 2018 paper that introduced it combines nine clinical biomarkers, which are measures from a blood test, with your age. The researchers started from forty-two candidate markers, and a model of mortality risk kept nine.
In that paper, a one-year increase in phenotypic age was associated with a 9% increase in the risk of all-cause mortality, a hazard ratio of 1.09. A hazard ratio compares how often an event, here death from any cause, happens in two groups. Associated means linked in the data, not proven to cause. PhenoAge is a research measure, not a diagnosis.
What to check in any app that takes blood results
Five questions to ask before you add anything.
| Ask | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| What does it do with each result? | You should be able to see where a number goes and what it changes |
| Does it ask you first? | Health data deserves a clear yes before it is used |
| Which labs and files does it accept? | Try it with your own file before you rely on it |
| Does it claim to diagnose? | An app that tells you what your results mean medically is overreaching |
| Who else sees it? | Check whether your results stay private from your friends and from other users |
How Complete uses blood results
Complete starts from your goals and counts every workout you do. It also gives you a Complete Age, an age for your body that reads not only your cardio fitness and your heart but also your strength and balance, plus your blood results if you add them. Training consistency is not counted yet.
The heart part is your resting heart rate and HRV, the small variation in time between your heartbeats. The strength and balance part comes from four short tests: push-ups, pull-ups, single-leg balance and a dead hang. Cardio fitness is your VO2max, the most oxygen your body can use during hard effort.
If your latest blood panel has all the measures PhenoAge needs, Complete works out a PhenoAge from it and uses it as one driver of your Complete Age. A panel that leaves one of them out gets no PhenoAge, and Complete Age is worked out without it. Complete’s consent screen says: “Your bloodwork feeds your PhenoAge and Complete Age.” Blood results are optional, and Complete Age works without them.
A real session from the library
Complete’s library marks this session as a primary session for the general health goal. It is here so you can see what the training looks like. It makes no claim about any blood marker. Zone 2 is easy, steady effort where you can still hold a conversation, and effort is out of 10, where 10 is all you have.
| Block | What you do |
|---|---|
| Warm-up | Row for 5 minutes at effort 2 out of 10. Five easy minutes: groove the sequence of legs, then body, then arms. |
| Main | Row for 40 minutes at effort 3 out of 10, a conversational effort at a low stroke rate of 18 to 22 strokes a minute. Long, unhurried strokes: let the recovery up the slide be slower than the drive. |
| Cool-down | Row for 3 minutes at effort 2 out of 10. Paddle it out. |
If you are new to this session
The library scales the main block for a beginner to 25 to 30 minutes, keeping the stroke rate low and pausing if your form unravels. If you are out of breath, you have left zone 2: back off.
Another app that stores labs
Bevel’s home page says: “Store your labs, clinical notes, and medical records in one secure place.” It also says: “Track your meals and get a full breakdown of what’s fueling your body” and “Log your lifts and watch your progress stack up.” Its download button is for iOS, and it says you can get started for free.
If you want your clinical notes and medical records in the same app as your meals, Bevel is built for that. Complete is the pick if you want your goals to steer what you do each day and every sport you do to count.

Frequently asked questions
Can a fitness app read my blood test?
Some apps store your results. Bevel’s home page says you can store your labs, clinical notes and medical records in one place. In Complete you can add your blood results, and if your latest panel has the measures PhenoAge needs, Complete works out a PhenoAge as one driver of your Complete Age.
What is PhenoAge?
PhenoAge, or phenotypic age, is a published estimate of how old your body acts, combining nine blood measures with your age. In the 2018 paper that introduced it, a one-year increase was associated with a 9% higher risk of all-cause mortality. It is a research measure, not a diagnosis.
Does Complete diagnose anything from my blood test?
No. Complete does not diagnose anything, and nothing it shows is medical advice. Ask your doctor what your results mean.
Do I need blood results to use Complete Age?
No. Complete Age reads your cardio fitness, your heart, your strength and balance, plus your blood results if you add them. Training consistency is not counted yet.
Will training change my blood test results?
That is a medical question, and this page makes no claim about it. The session above makes none either. Ask your doctor what to expect for your own markers.
Is Complete free?
Complete is free to download, and logging and sharing your workouts on it stay free.
Is Complete on Android?
No. Complete is an iPhone app.
